Information:
Pomegranates and lemons have both long held prominent
places in legend and lore throughout human history. Both are also at the source of some historical confusion. For example,
there are some biblical scholars who believe that the "apple" Adam gave to Eve in the Garden of Eden was actually
a pomegranate. As for lemons, there are some historians who will tell you that although the British are sometimes referred
to as Limeys, owing to the old practice of eating limes to fend off scurvy, they were in fact eating lemons. Such
controversy!
Over the years the two fruits have
also been associated with success in its various forms. There is an ancient Hebrew saying that goes, "May it be your
design, oh almighty, that our achievements multiply like pomegranate seeds." Then there is the not so ancient American
saying that goes, "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade." Either way...score!
So, what do you do when life hands you lemons and pomegranates at the same time? If
you're a tea Master, well, you make a deliciously refreshing tea. If you're a tea drinker, what do you think your
chances of enjoying that tea, especially considering it was produced organically without any chemical inputs. There's
no confusion on this one, your chances of enjoyment are 100%! Sweet and astringent with succulent layers of sour lemon and
tart pomegranate, this is a tea destined for legendary status.
Hot tea brewing method: Bring freshly drawn cold water to a rolling boil. Place 1 teaspoon of tea
for each cup into the teapot. Pour the boiling water into the teapot. Cover and let steep for 3-7 minutes according to taste
(the longer the steeping time the stronger the tea). Even though milk and a dash of sugar help enhance the flavor character
of this tea, it is perfectly acceptable to consume this tea ‘straight-up'
Iced tea-brewing method: (to make 1 liter/quart): Place 6 teaspoons
of tea into a teapot or heat resistant pitcher. Pour 1 1/4 cups of freshly boiled water over the tea. Steep for 5 minutes.
Quarter fill a serving pitcher with cold water. Pour the tea into your serving pitcher straining the leaves. Add ice and
top-up the pitcher with cold water. Garnish and sweeten to taste. [A rule of thumb when preparing fresh brewed iced tea
is to double the strength of hot tea since it will be poured over ice and diluted with cold water]. Please note that this
tea may tend to go cloudy or ‘milky' when poured over ice; a perfectly normal characteristic of some high quality
black teas and nothing to worry about!
