Organic Premium Sencha Tea is the traditional steamed green tea of Japan that hails its origin from the historically famous Zhejiang Province of China. Sencha literally means "Roasted Tea" in Japanese and is the most popular type of green tea in Japan. It is the fully sun-grown variety of Japanese green tea and is enjoyed worldwide for its lively and refreshing character preserved through various crafting styles and firing methods. It is considered to be one of the most aromatic and delicious of all green teas.

Details:

Sencha tea is an entirely sun-grown variety of Japanese green tea. It is the most common and popular variety of traditionally steamed green tea in Japan. It is generally categorized by the processing method, mainly by how long the tea is steamed for. Steaming secures tea's fresh character and vibrant green color by immediately halting natural tea oxidation. It has a soft sweetness which is perfectly balanced with a mild and revitalizing astringency brought about by being handpicked. This tea is rich in vitamin C which makes it excellent to have it either alone or with meals. It is grown in full sunlight and contains beneficial nutrients like catechin which is more than any other green teas.

History:

Sencha literally means steamed tea" and it constitutes 80% of the tea drunk in Japan. Green tea was first brought from China to Japan and later taken up by local Japanese farmers. Japanese green tea is first steamed for nearly 30-45 seconds to avoid the oxidization of leaves. Then, the leaves are rolled, shaped, and dried to create the established thin cylindrical shape of the tea. After drying, the leaves are fired that helps in their preservation and also add flavors to it.Sencha is grown in full sun at an altitude of 450 meters at the foot of the mountain in Japan. The foggy climate, sloping hills, warm days with cool nights create an ideal environment for the growth of tea plant. Chemicals are not used for growing or processing the tea which results in aromatic dry leaf. Its thick green liquor has a balance of sweetness and bitterness, and smooth aftertaste.
